The town moves at a relaxed, regional pace. So if you love your shopping and the buzz of a city, Yeppoon isn’t for you.

Crime has increased by 2%, but our town is still safer than 67% of other Australian communities.

Our cultural and culinary diversity can’t match the levels in metro areas.

YEPPOON AND LIVINGSTONE SHIRE ARE GROWING

Yeppoon is relatively small. Our current population is around 7,000. We still have that comforting, secure, small town vibe. But the population stats across the entire region tell a very different story.

According to the Bureau of Statistics, Livingstone Shire has experienced a 4.3% population growth. Around 40,900 people currently call it home and that figure is going to rise.

By 2031, the Central Queensland Regional Organisations of Councils expects Livingstone Shire’s population to be 62,200. And there are a few reasons for this.

WHY OUR REGION IS BOOMING

The Regional Australia Institute found that one in five capital city Australians are thinking of moving regional, with the top three reasons being:

to reduce the cost of living

to minimise stress

to avoid traffic.

While the pandemic undoubtedly played a role here, Yeppoon’s growing tourism, small business and energy industries are also attracting new residents.

How the QLD Govt can help

The Make a Healthy Career Move initiative for healthcare workers means you may be eligible for up to $20,000 in financial support as an overseas practitioner and up to $70,000 if you’re moving to rural or regional QLD from within Australia.

Support for your partner and family
